FAQ

Do BFA students live on campus?

There are 6 BFA dorms in and around the Kandern area. These dorms each have their own dorm parents and RA’s living with them. A large portion of the student population are dorm students. There are also, however, home students whose parents either serve at Black Forest Academy or serve with a mission who has a headquarters in the area.

BFA typically provides lengthy Christmas, Spring, and Summer breaks so that students can travel to be with their families (and in order to give our dorm staff a much needed break)!

What does it look like during Covid?

By the incredible work of God, all of our dorm students and staff were able to enter Germany to start the 2020/2021 school year, without problem. They all, also, tested negative to the mandatory COVID testing and were released from mandatory quarantine to attend in-person school.

The rules and regulations are changing daily in Germany. As we sit on the border of France and Switzerland, we have a handful of students coming over those borders daily, and we also have athletic competitions across the border. So, we have to daily monitor and adjust the changing COVID regulations.

What nationality are most of the students?

BFA is very much an international community. Many students carry American passports, but may have never actually lived in America. BFA also has a large Asian population, whose parents are serving in many different countries.

How long will TeamDockrey stay in Germany?

We are committed to serving here for as long as God asks us to be here. We truly believe that God has uniquely gifted us “for such a time as this.” We will seek His guidance regularly and say “Yes” to whatever He calls us to do.

Per government regulations and the recommendation of our sending agency, World Venture, we will have to return home for a full calendar year after 4 or 5 years on the field here in Germany. Stay tuned in the coming years for what that might look like.
